Spousal Support / Alimony

At The Law Offices of Bradley D. Bayan, we are dedicated to helping our clients with legal matters related to divorce, child custody, support, and aspects of domestic relations law related to domestic partnerships.

This includes advocating for a spousal maintenance agreement that fits within the financial circumstances. We will take the time to understand your situation, and fully explain the guidelines for spousal support, also sometimes known as alimony.

Our goal is to explain your options and your responsibilities. We are familiar with the various types of support such as temporary spousal support which can get issued before a divorce. Temporary support is to assist the spouse who makes less money or is wholly dependent on the other party for their financial well-being to receive money during the process of getting a divorce. Once divorced, permanent support can be implemented upon in the Final Judgement of divorce.

Getting support is not guaranteed but when appropriately granted by the court, it may be permanent or for a set period of time, such as a set number of years or based on years needed to complete a college degree or retrain for return to the work force.

Mr. Bayan is particularly good at drafting up and fashioning a marital settlement agreement involving the various aspects of the divorce including evaluation of incomes, distribution of marital assets and debts, and parenting plans, all of which may have an effect on whether a spouse needs ongoing alimony.

Fashioning such global agreements and global solutions that completely address all the outstanding dilemmas and issues is no easy task, but Mr. Bayan works tirelessly on these settlement agreements. And his goal is to get them signed! Therefore, when he submits the proposed judgment for divorce to the court, it is well prepared and ready for the Judge’s approval. If you are concerned about whether you will get spousal support or have questions about your financial future after a divorce, now is the time to talk to Bradley Bayan. Call (650) 364-3600.
